1. Is there a cost to attend Covenant House Academies?

No, Covenant House Academies is free to all students.

 

2. Do I have to live in Detroit to attend Covenant House Academies?

No, Covenant House Academies is open to any student; there are not any residential boundaries.

 

3. How long will I be in school and can I choose my own schedule?

The school days at Covenant House Academies are from 7:45 am to 12:00 Noon; and 12:30 p.m. – 4:45 p.m. Schedules are given based on your availability.

 

4. Can I get help if I plan to go to college?

Yes, there are vocational specialists that assist students in selecting and applying to college.

 

5. Do I have to attend school every day?

Yes, the expectation is that each student is on time for classes each day. The school day is only for four hours, which allows students time to care for other responsibilities.

 

6. When does school start?

Classes at Covenant House Academies are self-paced and enrollment is open year-round. Each student receives a curriculum based on their needs and will be able to begin classes after enrollment.

 

7. When can I graduate?

Graduation is dependent upon the needs of each student. Classes are self-paced, which allows students to go as fast or slow as they need to accurately grasp the material.

 

8. Will I have a prom and graduation?

Covenant House Academies does offer a prom. 

9. Will I have to participate in community service for credits?

Yes. Each student will be required to have volunteer credit hours. However, Covenant House Academies offers several opportunities for students and the staff can assist with locating opportunities for the students.

 

10. If my classes are self-paced, will I still have a teacher?

Yes. Teachers are still in the classroom to assist students while they are working. The class instruction is computer-based but questions can always be asked of the teachers.

 

11. Do I need to have a laptop or computer at home to be a student?

No. Computers are provided on campus to complete school work.

 

12. Is Covenant House Academies only for homeless students or students who have dropped out or have been kicked out of other schools?

No, CHA is open to any student ages 16-22 that has been previously enrolled in a high school.

Covenant Idol Finale at Hard Rock Cafe Detroit

Come out for a fantastic night of fun and support our kids. Top finalists from Covenant House Michigan will be competing to be this year's champion. Channel 955 Mojo will be hosting this exciting night. Celebrity guest judges include WJLB's Foolish, Real Detroit Editor Adam O'Connor, Funky D Records' DJ Linda Lexy, and Owner and Producer of 37 Studios Matt Dalton.

You won't want to miss this! A portion of the proceeds from dinner and drinks between the hours of 5 PM and 10 PM will benefit Covenant House Michigan.

Prom

This year's prom will be held on the Detroit Princess Riverboat. The prom committees are hard at work fundraising for this event. This year's theme is Mardi Grad. Dresses have been donated by Hope Closet and suits provided by Men's Warehouse. Our students will get quite a treat as they prepare for graduation.
